Whilst some websites make a limited selection of content available to blind or disabled users we wanted to make the whole site work for as many users as possible.
We designed this website with accessibility in mind, but we are fully committed, as part of our continuous improvement programme, to develop this website further in order to enhance its accessibility.
All web pages produced in the OCD-UK website are written to the XHTML 1.1 standard, use Cascading Style Sheets for presentation. This means that the website can be viewed in all modern browsers, regardless of platform or device.
A minority of our visitors using older browsers will not experience the site as we have intended. They will be able to read the pages and navigate the site, but the site will look basic in comparison.
If you have any particular needs that you do not believe are being met by the design, navigability, or any other aspect of this web site, please let us know.
Site Navigation
Once you've left the home page you can see where you are by taking a look at the trail at the top of the content on each page. It looks like this:
OCD
Treatments
Hypnotherapy and OCD
This tells you that you are on the 'Hypnotherapy and OCD' page in the Treatments section of the OCD section. You can go back to either the OCD or Treatments pages by clicking on the underlined links.
If you go to the wrong page, just keep clicking on the Back button of your browser until you get to the page you want to be at.
You can return the Homepage at anytime by simply click the OCD-UK logo in the top left corner from any page.
Search OCD-UK
Text Only
Click on the 'Text Only' link at the top left of each page to start viewing our pages as text only. If you want to stop using the facility at any stage, there is a link at the bottom of every page to return to the graphics version.
The 'text only' pages are powered by an automatic system called BETSIE. BETSIE was created by the BBC (it stands for BBC Education Text to Speech Internet Enhancer).
It reads in a web page, removes images and extraneous formatting code, and returns a text-only page. This significantly improves usability for people using screen readers and text-only web browsers
You can modify the pages' appearance by clicking on the "Change Text Only Settings" link on the bottom of every text-only page.
Accessibility
The W3C, the governing body of the World Wide Web (WWW), has laid down guidelines to ensure website accessibility for the visually impaired and hard of hearing.
The OCD-UK website validates to W3C published CSS and XHTML 1.1 guidelines.
We also ensure that your website incorporates features to the appropriate level of compliance to accessibility standards. The pages on this website comply with the W3C WAI 1.0 guidelines to Level-A.
Printer specific stylesheets have also been implemented so that each page
can be printed without menus, headers and navigation, thus ensuring just
content is printed.
