The Sussex OCD Clinic: Experiences of offering CBT for OCD in an NHS-based service and learning what mindfulness-based approaches might have to offer

Broadcast live on Sunday 28th November 2021
Speaker
Dr Clara Strauss, Deputy Director of Research in Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust where she leads the OCD Clinic.

Presentation subject

The Sussex OCD Clinic offers CBT to adults experiencing OCD within Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, with an emphasis on Exposure and Response Prevention. This is offered at different levels of intensity, depending on people’s needs. This talk will outline the Sussex OCD Clinic approach, share our outcomes and highlight strengths and limitations. The clinic also has a focus on research as a way to improve outcomes as we know that not everyone benefits from CBT for OCD. In the clinic we have explored the potential of mindfulness-based CBT approaches for OCD. In this talk I will also share why we have been interested in the potential of mindfulness-based approaches for OCD and findings from our research. There will be an opportunity for asking questions and sharing reflections.

We know that right now we are all living through difficult times financially, and it’s for that reason we have chosen to make our conference free access this year. Whilst the conference is free access, the charity does still have to pay Zoom and Vimeo license fees which power our online conference, so if you are in a position to make a donation of any amount, we would be incredibly grateful. It is only through donations, and the participation of our supporters fundraising activities that OCD-UK can survive, so we remain incredibly grateful for your consideration.
