Megan

Hey, I’m Megan. I’ve recently started as the lead support and volunteer coordinator at OCD-UK. I am really passionate about this role as I have lived experience of OCD. I started to notice checking behaviours in 2020 which became very time consuming. Although this time was very challenging, exposure response prevention (ERP) helped me take back control of my checking. Going through that process wasn’t easy, but it gave me a real understanding of what it is like to work through the OCD to recovery. I am looking forward to using this experience in my role to help others feel supported and understood in their journey with OCD.

I have recently finished a Bachelor’s in Health Science and Masters in Global Health as I am really interested in how access and availability of healthcare impacts OCD. This will help me to understand the struggles individuals face in getting a diagnosis and treatment for OCD as well as advocating for change. I have also worked as a volunteer at Doctors of the World supporting excluded individuals access medical care whilst in the UK. This allowed me to understand the time and dedication that volunteers give to a charity, and I will use these skills to ensure that volunteers at OCD feel supported and appreciated for all their hard work.
