This presentation will provide an historical overview of the development of psychological treatments for OCD. Several common sense ideas along the way have made intuitive sense at the time, but have later proven to be incorrect and unhelpful. The talk will also reflect on key steps forward in the treatment of OCD and what we have learned from these.
About the speaker
Dr Blake Stobie is a Lead Consultant Psychologist, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, and an accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). He is the Clinical Director of the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT) at the Maudsley Hospital, London. He has had a particular interest in understanding and treating OCD throughout his career.
